I’m interrupting my Southeast Asia blog posts to share the fun I had on my first day back in America a couple weeks ago. My brother and some of his family came into town from Ohio for him to do the Indycar Experience at the Speedway.
I quickly realized that I didn’t leave the heat behind on my trip across the pond. I felt for the people having to wear the racing uniforms in all that heat! Having gone to all but four Indianapolis 500 races since 1987, this place holds a lot of family memories for me. It was fun to see a new side of the track and my brother really enjoyed speeding around it with the help of driver Davey Hamilton! Spending the day outside and catching up with family was a great welcome back to the States!

All suited up and ready to go!
Gentlemen, start your engines!
That’s my brother! Not too bad an attempt at capturing a car going almost 180 mph in focus!
Shaking Davey Hamilton’s hand after their laps around the track.
I think he enjoyed it.
My turn for a pic with my brother

Have to document the Mansell Family’s claim to fame… our long lost cousin Nigel almost won the race in 1993. We were there cheering him on in our “Mansells for Nigel” shirts. Yes, you read that right. We were the coolest family at the race. 🙂
